Explore the Future of Maritime Defense: Underwater Autonomous Vehicles with Capt. Stephen Torpey of Anduril Industries

Dive into the cutting edge of maritime technology with Captain Stephen Torpey, Field Operations Chief at Anduril Industries. In this compelling lecture, Captain Torpey will explore the rapidly evolving world of underwater autonomous vehicles (UAVs) and their transformative role in national defense, coastal security, and maritime operations. Drawing on his extensive expertise – shaped by a 27-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard and current leadership in advanced field systems – Captain Torpey will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how Anduril’s innovative technologies are revolutionizing underwater surveillance, threat detection, and response capabilities. From lifesaving missions in storm-tossed seas to next-generation autonomous systems, this presentation is an essential opportunity for anyone interested in maritime safety, defense innovation, or the future of ocean technology.

Occurs weekly on Wednesdays until December 11, 2025

Fall Mindfulness Workshop Lifesaving Sangha with Sean Baggett

This season our community practice will explore The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching by Thích Nhất Hạnh — a modern classic in mindfulness and Buddhist wisdom. In this beloved work, Thầy brings ancient teachings to life with clarity and compassion, showing us how mindfulness, compassion, and insight can transform suffering and bring peace into daily life. Whether you are new to Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness or an experienced practitioner, you’ll find this workshop and group meaningful and rewarding. Sean’s classes are fun, welcoming, and informative. As part of this upcoming session, we recommend that everyone purchase the book to enhance your learning and understanding of the material we’ll be discussing. You can easily find the book available for purchase online through major retailers. Classes will be 7pm – 8pm with a 30-minute insight meditation session concluding at 8:30 pm. All are welcome.

Flying Santa! – Landing in Hull
Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 12:30 PM

Flying Santa! – Landing in Hull

Join us on Saturday, December 13 at 12:30 PM for the return of a wonderful New England tradition. Since 1929, Flying Santa has honored the brave men and women who guard our shores—first by dropping gifts to lighthouse keepers from a floatplane, and now by helicopter visits to Coast Guard stations, delivering a present to every Coast Guard child. The Hull Lifesaving Museum is proud to be a “Candy Cane Stop” on Flying Santa’s magical journey. Children will have the chance to greet Santa during his quick landing and snap a photo to remember the moment.

Audubon Christmas Bird Count

Audubon Christmas Bird Count

Join us for a historic tradition that has been taking place yearly since 1901. You’re invited to be part of this exciting event for as much or as little time as you like. Simply email us with the hours you’re available, and we’ll share details on where to meet up with our group. Since we’ll be exploring different locations throughout the day, we’ll keep you updated as we go. It’s a wonderful opportunity for nature and outdoor enthusiasts – so bundle up, bring your binoculars and camera if you have them, and get ready for a refreshing day surrounded by winter wildlife. We’ll pause midday at the museum to warm up with coffee, tea, cookies, and a restroom break. If you are interested but would prefer to join a group closer to home, just let us know – we’re happy to connect you with the South Shore Bird Club for nearby options. We hope to see you there!
