Sunday Jazz featuring Chase Behar
Relax to the sounds of jazz standards and original music performed by Berklee College of Music ensembles. Chase Behar is a Canadian-American bassist focused primarily on the jazz idiom, although he is interested in pop and groove styles as well. After nearly ten years of playing the electric bass, Behar decided to pick up the double bass in his second year at Berklee College of Music in 2023, and quickly rose to a professional level within the Boston music scene on his new instrument. Behar’s philosophy since coming to Berklee has been to not be intimidated by the level of others or become daunted by the system around him, but instead to realize his own pace of growth and find his own path. This pursuit led him to his studies in the avant-garde style shortly after beginning on the upright bass. Behar took on a mentorship with the incredibly accomplished Cuban drummer Francisco Mela, while also studying with other giants in the free music circle, such as Tony Malaby and Kris Davis. Although this style is only one of Behar’s many areas of focus within his professional career, he continues with improvised music as a method to further his musicality in ways that he can apply to all other styles. Throughout his studies so far, he has been fortunate enough to have worked with other heavily accomplished bassists and musicians such as Linda May Han Oh, John Lockwood, Susan Hagen (of the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony Orchestra), Kenny Werner (established musician and author of Effortless Mastery), and many more. Behar has had the honour of receiving awards such as the World Tour Scholarship (renewed annually) and the Clarke Family Scholarship from Berklee, as well as the Jimmy Haslip Scholarship award from the Berklee Bass Department for musical and academic excellence. He is currently entering his final year at Berklee, with the goal of moving to New York shortly afterward to pursue his career path as a jazz artist.

Summer Adventure Program – Summer 2026 July 7 – August 20, 2026 Tuesday – Thursday 9:00 am – 12:30 pm (Morning Program) – $120 Members, $130 Non-Members 9:00 am – 2:30 pm (Extended Day) – $180 Members, $195 Non-Members This program is supported in part by a grant from South Shore Playhouse Associates. The Summer Adventure Program offers seven weeks of discovery and exploration with a different theme each week for children ages 5-11. Each week includes hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and a fun mix of history, science, and arts. NOTE: Due to the success of last year’s program, we are once again offering an optional extended 2 hours to give parents a little longer break and to let the children have some less structured play time. Summer Explorers Program – Summer 2026 July 7 – August 20, 2026 9:00 am – 12:30 pm (Morning Program) – $120 Members, $130 Non-Members This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hull Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. This 7-week program offers a different area of focus each week, with all programming originating at our HLM Windmill Point Boathouse, including our fleet of open-water rowing vessels, the boathouse, the harbor, and the harbor islands. Areas of focus include: safety on the water, rowing and commanding (coxing) open water rowing craft, operating outboard powered boats, harbor piloting and navigation, marine environment, boat maintenance and boat building, while making connections to each other, to our past and to our future. Hull PorchFest is prepping for its main event on September 19, 2026, where dozens of musicians and bands will perform across the Kenberma neighborhood. Throughout the summer, organizers host acoustic "Preview" sets to drum up excitement on Saturday mornings.
